Question: What is the Random Percent of HH option in a Demo and as a Constraint?
Answer: Within a Demo, this option is a panel where you can restrict your Demo to some available respondents on a random draw by checking the box and entering a percentage. As for the ways to use this panel - you are able to group, take or discard. Utilizing one of these options allows you to divide the panelists into a number of groups, respondents to be included, or respondents to not be included - respectively. For more info and why you may want to use this feature read here: https://support.mediaocean.com/tview/help/t/define_your_demographics.htm
Groups allow you to assign each home to a number of groups that you can then cross-validate in an optimization. For more information on groups, read here: https://support.mediaocean.com/tview/help/t/demo_subsets_and_crossvalidation.htm
The seed box is used to re-seed the random number generator used to draw groups. By HH allows you to control whether persons are kept together by homes when the random draws are made.
When using as a Constraint, this option constrains the dayparts with the Random Percent selected. See below for an example of when you might use Random Percent of HH as a Constraint.
Let’s say you have a daypart of 6 PM-Midnight on A&E with a Constraint of 50%. This tells the system to look at the normal audience of this vehicle, but discard any impressions reported for a random draw of half the target demo.
You would likely use this Constraint if you are buying through NCC or other vendor where only half of the homes in the country are capable of receiving the ad.
Note: The entered GRPs would still be specified as national GRPs, because the Random Percent does not impact region. If you are attempting to limit by region, you should use the Where feature.
